Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year

Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year

Linda Adamson
Dear Pacific Grove Unified School District Community,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We hope you and your family enjoyed a restful and enjoyable summer break. I am filled with excitement and anticipation about beginning my second year as your superintendent and eagerly await the new opportunities and experiences that lie before us. Whether you are a returning member of our school community or new to our district, a warm welcome to each of you.

This year’s theme is ‘Building a Culture of We’ and we are committed to implementing our new core values of Belonging, Safety, and Prosperity to assist us as we continue striving for excellence and a culture of continuous improvement. It is through our collective commitment to these core values that we know we can expect positive outcomes for our students, families, teachers, staff, and community.

I am also proud to present a summarized version of our 2024-2027 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). The PGUSD LCAP identifies what is important for our students, our staff, and our families through the implementation of four goals that provide direction for our district. These goals represent the fundamentals of our district and provide actions that are essential to both the academic success and social emotional growth of our students. Each goal generates actions that direct staff and the use of our resources. These actions serve as the catalysts that drive us toward continuous and sustainable improvement. We are proud of the in-depth and collaborative process we followed to develop these goals, garnering input from students, staff and our entire community.

Throughout the summer, so many of our staff continued to dedicate countless hours to  preparing our school sites for the start of a new school year.  A special thank you to our technology department for their work in servicing and preparing all technology for the new school year. We are excited to expand our use of  Securly Classroom this school year in all classrooms grades 2-12. This digital filter supports teacher use of technology by preventing students from accessing inappropriate websites, monitoring student screens in real-time, and keeping students on task while using technology for instructional purposes. It will also serve as a powerful tool for our teachers to be more intentional about the frequency of their use of technology as an instructional tool.

A big thank you to our Maintenance and Operations team for their tireless work in completing numerous projects across all campuses this summer, all intended to enhance energy efficiency and safety, while also promoting building beautification. I am sure you saw them busy at work these past few months and now you will get to see their work for yourselves.

In our ongoing efforts to promote safe campuses we are pleased to be launching our new Visitor Management System via InformaCast at each of our school campuses which will allow for the quick screening of all visitors on campus and an easy means of identifying visitors through the printing of identification stickers. We appreciate your patience with our front office staff as we all become more adept in the use of this new tool, which further supports our district-wide focus on promoting safety on each of our campuses.
I am especially proud of our dedicated team of professionals who have worked tirelessly to ensure a successful start to the school year. The PGUSD team is more focused than ever on working collaboratively to engage students with outstanding teaching and learning in order to achieve the best outcomes for our students.  We remain committed to offering continued district and school-wide events and activities to engage and inform families. Through doing so, we seek to not only nurture our existing connections but also deepen our understanding of our students' and families' needs and desires.

It remains my honor to serve as your superintendent. Thank you for the trust you place in me and our staff and for reminding me daily of how fortunate we are to work with this truly remarkable group of talented and kind students. They inspire me daily.

I look forward to continuing our work together this coming year and to seeing you on campus or around the community. Please feel free to reach out to me or any member of our cabinet team should you have questions, feedback, or simply want to say hello. We are here to serve you and remain available and open.

Respectfully,

Dr. Linda Adamson
